Amado "Ding" Hidalgo
Amado "Ding" Hidalgo, is a classical realist painter who is able to capture the magnificence of the Philippine blue waters. He has travelled extensively around the Philippines, particularly to the coastal regions of Luzon and Visayas to paint the wondrous water formations of the country.
If you look closely at his works, with very fine strokes of the soft pastel against the paper, and much more with oil on canvas, Ding is able to illustrate quite vividly the transparency of the water, showing the rocky sea floor -- a technique rarely equalled.
It is no wonder why Ding is hailed as one of the UP 100 artists (UP's One Hundred Best Artists in 100 Years).
